Tandem carefully develops software updates to ensure your safety and satisfaction. Please review the instructions and take time to understand the new features before beginning your update.

What's Included

This update allows you to view Dexcom G5 Mobile continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) information directly on your t:slim X2™ insulin pump, instead of on a separate Dexcom receiver.* You will also be able to view your CGM data through Dexcom's mobile app and your pump screen at the same time.

t:slim X2 Insulin Pump with Dexcom G5

Update Eligibility

This update requires a prescription from your healthcare provider, if you don’t currently use Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM.

If your pump is eligible for this update, you should have received an email from Tandem Diabetes Care with the unique update ID required for the process. If you received your t:slim X2 insulin pump in September 2017 or later, your pump was likely loaded with this software update before it was shipped, and you would not have received an email. If this is the case, there are no new updates for your pump at this time. If you are unsure if your pump is eligible for this update, please call Customer Technical Support at (877) 801-6901 for assistance.

Update Your Pump

Here are the three simple steps to update the software on your t:slim insulin pump:

Before You Begin

Please consult the Tandem Device Updater User Guide and have the following on hand:

  • A backup insulin delivery option, such as a syringe and long-acting insulin, in case there are any issues updating your pump. Your blood glucose (BG) meter so that you can check your BG prior to starting the update. Supplies to change your cartridge. We recommend performing the update when you are ready for a new cartridge.
  • A convenient time to stop all insulin delivery, detach your infusion set, and remove your cartridge. This update will take 15 to 30 minutes.
  • A compatible computer with an internet connection (wired ethernet is preferred).
  • And remember, the t:flex® insulin pump and t:slim G4™ insulin pump are not currently compatible with the Tandem Device Updater.
