The software update for Control-IQ technology is now available for in‑warranty t:slim X2 insulin pump users.

Control-IQ™ technology on the t:slim X2™ insulin pump is designed to help increase time in range (70-180 mg/dL)* using Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) values to predict glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and adjust insulin accordingly. A prescription and online training are required in order to receive the unique Update ID code needed to complete your software update.

What is an Update ID code?

Your unique Update ID code is required to complete the software update on your t:slim X2 insulin pump, and is delivered to you via email once you have successfully completed online training. To start the process and receive your Update ID code, you must first request your software update through the t:connect® portal.


I have my Update ID code

If we have a verified prescription, you've completed your online training, and you've received your Update ID code email from Tandem, you’re ready to update your pump.


I need an Update ID code

If you haven’t requested a prescription or completed online training, visit the portal to start the process. Update ID codes are delivered following completion of online training.



Check Your Progress

If you’ve already requested your update, you can check your progress by logging back into the t:connect portal. The prescription process can take a few days, depending on healthcare provider availability. Please allow up to two weeks before calling Customer Technical Support for an update, and help us keep the phone lines open for customers who may be experiencing an interruption in insulin delivery.



What is the update process?

You can initiate your request for a software update in the easy-to-use t:connect portal. Below are the steps in the process, and general guidelines for how long each can take. You can always log into the t:connect portal to review your latest status.

  • To submit your request for Control-IQ technology, log in to the t:connect portal, select “My Devices” at the top of the page, and select your software update. Your submission will trigger an automated prescription request to your healthcare provider (HCP)
  • Your healthcare provider then signs and returns your prescription at their discretion (Can take 2-14 days, depending on HCP availability)
  • Once we receive, review, and process the signed prescription, you will receive notice of your training via email (Can take 1-7 days)
  • Following completion of your training, we will send you another email with your software Update ID code and instructions on how to install Control-IQ technology on your pump (Can take up to 1 day)
