Your Replacement Pump

Insulin Pump

For a seamless start with your replacement pump, please take a moment to read through and follow the setup instructions provided below.

1

Before You Begin

Make sure you have your current pump settings written down or printed from the Tandem Source platform (click on Reports and then Pump Settings). If you already have an account, please be sure to use your existing login credentials and do not create a new account.

/ ! \ Important
Your replacement pump may intentionally have a different software version than your previous pump. Visit the Tandem Source platform and check the My Pump section to see if a software update is available or if training is required before you begin using your replacement pump.

2

Starting Your New Pump

  • Using the USB cable that came with your existing pump, connect your replacement pump to a power source. This will turn the pump on for set-up.
  • Enter the settings from your existing pump into your replacement pump. For a refresher on how to do this, watch this video or refer to your User Guide.
  • Fill and load a new cartridge
  • Resume insulin delivery
3

Connecting Your Dexcom CGM

Whether you are continuing a current continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor session or starting a new one, you will need to disconnect your old pump from your sensor session and connect the new one by following the steps below.

But first, put your old pump into Storage Mode. In order to disconnect the old pump from your existing sensor session, it is important that you DO NOT stop the sensor session on your old pump. You can only have one pump connected to your CGM sensor session at a time.

If using a Dexcom G6 CGM

  • Enter the transmitter ID into your replacement pump
  • Start the sensor on your replacement pump
(Options > My CGM > Start G6 Sensor)
  • Skip the sensor code on the replacement pump
  • Your replacement pump will then join the existing sensor session. It may take a few minutes for the CGM and replacement pump to connect and for numbers to populate on your t:slim X2 insulin pump.

If using a Dexcom G7 CGM

  • Start the sensor on your replacement pump
(Options > My CGM > Start G7 Sensor)
  • Enter the Pairing Code as prompted
  • Your replacement pump will then join the existing sensor session. It may take a few minutes for the CGM and replacement pump to connect and for numbers to populate on your t:slim X2 insulin pump.

If using a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor

Linking to Your Account

After you program your replacement pump, it is important to link your new pump to your existing t:connect account so that you and your healthcare provider can continue to access and review your pump data. To link your replacement pump, watch this training video or reference our Support Page.

5

Pairing to the t:connect Mobile App

If you used the t:connect mobile app with your old pump, open the mobile app, go to Settings, and tap Unpair Pump. Then watch this helpful video or download the instructions to pair your new pump.

If you did not use the t:connect mobile app with your old pump, the t:connect mobile app serves as a discreet secondary display for your t:slim X2 insulin pump, so you can stay informed of your diabetes management from the convenience of your smartphone. To pair your new pump to the t:connect mobile app, watch this helpful video or download the pairing instructions.

Returning Your Previous Pump

You received your replacement pump in the same box that you will use to return your previous pump to Tandem Diabetes Care.

  • Once you have ensured that your replacement pump is up and running, find the serial number (SN) of your previous pump, which can be found on a white sticker underneath the pump cartridge, and confirm it matches the Returning Pump Serial Number printed on the bottom of the white shipping label.
  • If you haven’t done so already, follow the instructions from the user guide to place your previous pump into Storage Mode. This will prevent the pump from beeping during shipment. If you are experiencing difficulties placing your previous pump in Storage Mode, let the battery drain completely.
  • If needed, remove any extra packaging from around the box
  • Place the previous pump inside the box and seal the box
  • Place the box inside the provided shipping box and seal it
  • Apply the white shipping label to the shipping box
  • Drop the package off at any UPS store or UPS drop box location
