Tandem Diabetes Care Supports Connected in Motion as National Sponsor

San Diego, May 23, 2019 – Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc. (NASDAQ: TNDM), a leading insulin delivery and diabetes technology company, today announced its sponsorship of Connected in Motion’s 2019 program calendar, featuring social and educational programing that builds community among people with type 1 diabetes. The funding will go to support Slipstream Retreats, adventure programs, and special projects in Ontario, British Columbia, the Yukon, and Alberta, Canada, including additional support for the Ontario Slipstream Retreat, hosted in partnership with Beyond Type 1.

“We work hard to develop technologies to help people with diabetes spend less time worrying about their blood sugar, and more time enjoying their lives,” said Tandem Diabetes Care President and CEO, John Sheridan. “That’s why we sponsor Connected in Motion, and other inspiring patient events throughout Canada, that help to make living with diabetes easier, and hopefully, a lot more fun.”

A Slipstream weekend is like camp for adults living with type 1 diabetes – a getaway packed full of outdoor adventure, traditional camp programming, hands on diabetes-themed workshops, and sessions hosted by guest speakers, most often people with type 1 diabetes. It’s a chance for participants to connect with like-minded people, get outside, try something new, and learn from each other’s experience.

“We are thrilled to be working with Tandem Diabetes Care in Canada as they support CIM’s upcoming 2019 programs.” said Connected in Motion Executive Director, Jen Hanson. “Their support allows us to increase access to educational programming and to foster the growth of this community. We’re grateful that Tandem Diabetes Care has made supporting the community they serve such a priority and are excited for what this partnership will help us achieve in the coming year.”

Connected in Motion programs will take place from May to September 2019 in Ontario, BC, the Yukon and Alberta, Canada. Interested people with type 1 diabetes (18 and older) are encouraged to visit the Connected in Motion website at www.connectedinmotion.ca/events for more information, registration details, and program pricing.

Tandem Diabetes Care periodically provides sponsorships and grants for educational and empowerment programing in the diabetes community. Grants are awarded to qualified non-profit organizations with the mission to empower people with diabetes, and to assist local initiatives, events, and programing that support Tandem’s mission, its employees, and corporate citizenship.
