Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I do an internship?
An internship can provide you with valuable, real-world experience that allows you to explore career options, expand marketable skills, and establish professional contacts — giving you the tools you need to launch your professional career.
Why should I choose an internship with Tandem Diabetes Care?
At Tandem Diabetes Care, we create new possibilities for people living with diabetes, their loved ones, and the healthcare providers supporting them through a positively different experience. From Day 1, you’ll be paired with experienced team members and like-minded interns who are ready to tackle projects that make a positive difference in the lives of people with diabetes.
Does Tandem pay interns?
Yes. All interns are given competitive compensation.
What makes a good internship experience?
A good internship program will offer real-world experience in a supportive setting. The goals of the program should align with your professional aspirations and include an encouraging supervisor who is focused on mentorship, education, and constructive feedback. Yes, we just described an internship with Tandem.
When does Tandem hire interns?
We will extend offers in the spring for our summer program. Internship programs can range from three to 12-month work terms based on our hiring needs.
When do applications become available?
The typical recruiting cycle can last up to three months, so if you’re aiming for a summer internship, consider applying in late winter/early spring. This is typically when open positions are posted.
How will I know if I’ve been selected?
Due to the high volume of applications, you may not hear from us immediately. We will close the postings when the recruiting cycle has ended.
Can I apply for future positions?
Yes. So long as you meet the eligibility requirements there is no limit to how many times you can apply. This is definitely encouraged.
Do I get college credit?
Check with your institution to verify whether they will accept credit.
Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes. However, we ask that you please review each opportunity before applying to make sure your experience and goals align with the position.
What kind of work can I expect?
Our interns work on a variety of projects that help them gain valuable experience, while helping to advance the company’s mission. We try to match your experience and goals with the right team and the right projects. Assignments vary, but most often will include critical projects that require hands-on involvement. We expect our interns to perform with the same enthusiasm — and strive for the same level of excellence — as our employees.
Do interns get hired back full-time?
Yes. We have many interns who return to Tandem in full-time roles as our internship program is intended to be a pipeline for talented candidates. Rehires vary from year to year and are based on the company’s hiring needs and the intern’s performance record.
What type of candidates are you looking for?
First, we want team players and positive attitudes. Those are a must. Then, we’re also looking for candidates with good analytical, language, and communication skills.
If selected, does Tandem provide interns relocation or housing?
We do not provide a relocation stipend or signing bonus for students. However, we treat each intern on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to work with you and accommodate your needs.
Do you have non-technical positions for students?
Yes. Please review our posted opportunities for a complete list of our technical and non-technical roles.
What are the eligibility requirements to apply for an internship?
Our internship programs are open to students only (recent graduates are encouraged to apply for full-time position). Graduate students may also apply.
I’m ready! How do I apply?
Great, you can apply here. An application is required to be considered. Your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted if there is interest in your candidacy.
