How to Get Started

With Your Replacement Pump

1

Get Ready

Make sure you have your current pump settings written down or printed from your diabetes data management web application (i.e., Glooko or Tidepool).

/ ! \ Important
Your replacement pump may intentionally have an older software version because training is required to run the latest software. Please check to see if a software update is available before you begin using your pump.
Visit portal.tandemdiabetes.com > My Devices > Update My Software.

2

Starting Your New Pump

  • Apply the Insulin Pump Support sticker to the back of your new pump. Do not cover any vent holes.
  • Using the USB cable that came with your existing pump, connect your replacement pump to a power source. This will turn the pump on for set-up.
  • Enter the settings from your existing pump into your replacement pump. For a refresher on how to do this, refer to your User Guide.
  • Fill and load a new cartridge
  • Resume insulin delivery
3

Connecting Your Dexcom G6 CGM

If you are not using a Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system, please skip to the next step. Whether you are continuing a current Dexcom G6 CGM sensor session or starting a new one with an existing transmitter you will need to disconnect your old pump from your transmitter and connect the new one by following the steps below:

  • In order to disconnect the old pump from your existing sensor session, it is important that you DO NOT stop the sensor session on your old pump. You can only have one pump connected to your Dexcom G6 CGM sensor session at a time.
  • Put your old pump into Storage Mode by turning the pump off completely, plugging it into a power source, and holding the Screen On/Quick Bolus button down for 30 seconds.
  • Enter the transmitter ID into your replacement pump
  • Start the sensor on your replacement pump
(Options > My CGM > Start Sensor)
  • Skip the sensor code on the replacement pump
  • Your replacement pump will then join the existing sensor session. It may take a few minutes for the CGM and replacement pump to connect and for numbers to populate on your t:slim X2 insulin pump.
4

Linking to Your Account

After you program your replacement pump, it is important to link your new pump to your existing diabetes data management web application account so that you and your healthcare provider can continue to access and review your pump data.

5

Returning Your Previous Pump

  • Ensure your new pump is up and running
  • Put your old pump into Storage Mode. If the On/Quick Bolus button on your old pump is not functioning, let the battery drain before sending it back to prevent the pump from beeping during shipment.
  • Place your old pump in the white box that your replacement pump arrived in
  • Remove the Tandem sleeve from the outside of the box and seal the white box using the enclosed pre-paid Canada Post return shipping label
  • Drop the package off at any Canada Post location
