Exclusively for youth with diabetes ages 13-18, Camp Setebaid at Swatara offers age-specific summer camp programs which allow campers to feel at ease and accepted in a community where having diabetes is the norm, not the exception.
The primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for youth living with diabetes and their families, and provide them with enjoyable summer camp experiences which are shared with their peers. The programs aim to promote a healthy lifestyle while fostering a community of support from families who face similar challenges on a daily basis.
Under skilled medical supervision, campers also learn to better understand diabetes and the process of self-management by checking their blood-glucose levels, administering insulin, and recording results. As campers participate in daily events, they will gain new confidence in managing diabetes while maintaining an active lifestyle.
Camp Setebaid at Swatara is held in Bethel, Pennsylvania, just 35 minutes East of Harrisburg and a little over an hour West of Philadelphia.
